The Druids, Ireland’s acclaimed folk band, will be performing a special benefit concert on Wednesday, August 27 2025, in Cuan Mhuire, Athy, Co Kildare with all proceeds going to Our Lady’s Drug Unit, Athy.

For The Druids, this isn’t just another performance - it’s personal.

A Band with a Message

Founded in 2008, The Druids have become one of Ireland’s most passionate and politically engaged folk bands.

Known for their powerful live performances, deeply rooted in Ireland’s rich folk tradition, The Druids combine music with message, championing causes of social justice, unity, history, and the power of the human spirit.

Their music isn’t just entertainment — it’s a call to reflect, to remember, and to take action.

From stages across Ireland to international tours in the UK, Europe, and the U.S., The Druids have built a loyal following through their honesty, authenticity, and unwavering belief in community. Their songs tell stories of Irish resistance, working-class struggle, love, loss, and hope — themes that resonate powerfully with those who’ve walked the road of addiction and recovery.

Why Cuan Mhuire?

Over the past number of years, Cuan Mhuire Athy has been The Druids’ chosen charity. The connection runs deep. Members of the band have experienced the darkness of addiction firsthand, and have emerged through recovery with gratitude, purpose, and a renewed passion for life and music.

“We understand the pain of addiction — some of us have walked that painful, lonely road ourselves”, the band said in a statement.

“We’ve been blessed with recovery and now live peaceful, purposeful lives. That wouldn’t have been possible without support. Cuan Mhuire has enabled tens of thousands of people to get their lives back — with dignity, respect, and love. That’s why we stand with them.”

Cuan Mhuire is Ireland’s largest voluntary provider of addiction treatment services. It has helped individuals and families recover from alcohol, drug, and gambling dependencies, offering not just rehabilitation, but restoration. Their work is about more than breaking addiction — it’s about rebuilding lives and reconnecting people to their families, their communities, and themselves.

Tickets for the concert cost €10 and are available at Athy Garden Centre, or may be reserved by calling Nicola Kelly at 0879538908.

Doors open at 7pm, with the show beginning at 7.30pm in Cuan Mhuire, Athy, on Wednesday, August 27 2025.

All proceeds go directly to Our Lady’s Drug Unit, Athy.

This promises to be a night of stirring music, powerful stories, and deep connection — a celebration of resilience and recovery.

Whether you’re a long-time fan of The Druids, someone in recovery, or simply wish to support a worthy cause, this promises to be an evening to remember.
