Kildare Gardaí warn motorists not to use areas as "race tracks"
Kildare Gardaí have warned that a stretch of road is "not a racetrack".
Naas Roads Policing Unit carried out a high-visibility speed checkpoint on the R402 at Ardkill and Kilshanroe, Co. Kildare, following complaints from residents.
A total of eight motorists were caught exceeding the 80 km/h limit.
The highest speeds were 142 km/h and 126 km/h.
The penalties are €160 fine and three penalty points.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Ardkill and Kilshanroe are not racetracks.
"Please slow down and drive responsibly."
