Kildare road junctions are to be made safer

Nearly €400,000 to be spent on improvements
There are plans to improve 16 road junctions within County Kildare.
A Kildare County Council meeting was told that €385,000 has been earmarked for 18 "locations of interest” where the sightlines will be improved.
KCC says the intention is to implement these schemes and see if the accident frequency and severity reduces. If this happens no further action will be required.
A larger scheme is planned to implement more substantial road safety initiatives.
KCC has also embarked on a project which has seen 10 junctions examined. Designs are being prepared for improvements at Allenwood and Dag Weld’s Cross, near Coill Dubh.
The council intends to add further junctions to the list “as funding and resources allow."
