A lifelong friend of Liam O’Flynn and author of In Safe Hands, which chronicles Dublin’s rich musical heritage, Mick brings a deep personal connection to Liam’s legacy and a wealth of stories from their shared musical journey.
This intimate event will set the tone for the upcoming festival, offering a taste of the spirit and community that defines Féile Liam O’Flynn. Attendees can expect live music, reflections on Liam’s life and influence, and a warm gathering of musicians, friends, and fans in celebration of one of Ireland’s most beloved cultural figures.
Féile Liam O’Flynn takes place from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th October 2025, with performances from Brendan Begley, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, Sharon Shannon, Luka Bloom, and many more. Events will span Naas and Kill, including instrumental workshops, family-friendly sessions, and the popular Try the Pipes experience.
Mary Ryan, chairperson of the organising committee, shared her excitement ahead of the launch: “An evening with Mick O’Connor is a beautiful way to begin this year’s Féile Liam O’Flynn. Mick’s friendship with Liam and his deep knowledge of Irish music makes him the perfect person to help us honour Liam’s legacy. We invite everyone to join us at Fletchers Pub to celebrate the music, the memories, and the magic of Liam O’Flynn.”
