A one day emergency temporary road closure has been announced for one County Kildare region.

Kildare County Council (KCC) explained: "In the interest of public safety, Kildare County Council (KCC) must close Gleann Na Greine Road in Naas to facilitate urgent sewer repair works.

"These works will commence on Monday, September 8, 2025."

KCC also listed the diversion arrangements that will be in place during this temporary closure:

  • As Gleann Na Greine is a cul-de-sac, no through-diversion is required
  • Local access and emergency access only will be maintained via Lawlor's Hotel car park, which shall serve as a temporary route during the closure. This access will be clearly signposted and managed by the appointed Traffic Management Supervisor.
  • Access through Lawlor's Hotel car park is strictly limited to residents, businesses located on Gleann Na Greine and emergency services.
  • No other vehicular traffic will be permitted & pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

KCC also asserted that diversionary routes will be clearly signposted, as agreed with KCC and An Garda Síochána.

"Emergency access and restricted local access will be maintained," KCC added.
