Kildare County Council's headquarters at Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park in Naas.
The September meeting of Celbridge Leixlip Municipal District takes place on Friday, September 19 2025 in Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co Kildare.
As is customary, transport issues dominate the agenda, with several councillors tabling motions and questions on these concerns.
Cllr David Trost (FF) will ask for the council to carry out a speed check on the Maynooth Road, Celbridge, “from the Tesco lights to the ramp approaching Beatty Grove.”
Cllr Trost will ask the council to consider safety measures, including ramps, “following recent incidents being raised relating to this very busy section of road.”

Meanwhile, a motion tabled by Cllr Lumi Panaite Fahey (FG) will call on the council to provide a timeline for the road works completion on Maynooth Road and Shackleton Road, Celbridge.
According to Cllr Panaite Fahey, the works are causing traffic congestion and are affecting the surrounding schools.
Castletown House again features in the MD meetings, as Cllr Claire O'Rourke (SD) asks
the council to inform the members of the designation of the 100m of roadway in the council’s ownership “at the M4 entrance to Castletown House and lands (map KE59157F) given that at the July Municipal District meeting the council stated that this is not a public road?”
A motion from Cllr Bernard Caldwell (FF) asks that the council puts in place a wall or paling across the area at the entrance to the pump station “situated to the left of the main entrance to Barn Hall Meadows/Wonderful Barn, Leixlip.”
On a different note, Cllr Nuala Killeen (SD) will call on the council to engage with the National Transport Authority (NTA) to undertake a comprehensive review to explore the feasibility of repurposing existing public transport routes to facilitate direct connections to Dublin Airport.
This, Cllr Killeen explained, would be in collaboration with all relevant authorities and stakeholders, and would utilise alighting and embarking points not currently in operation.
Elsewhere, Cllr David Trost (FF) will ask the council to provide details of the income received from paid parking in Celbridge for year to date, to include fines imposed and amounts collected.
Cllr Lumi Panaite Fahey (FG) will ask if the council can confirm of any immediate plans to reopen Abbey Car Park to the public in circumstances where there is a shortage of parking in Celbridge.
Similarly, Cllr Rupert Heather (LAB) asks if the council can provide an update on discussions with St John of God on the renewal of the lease at Celbridge Abbey Car Park.
Finally, two questions from Cllr Nuala Killeen (SD).
The first asks the council to confirm what plans are in place to minimise traffic disruption to residents due to Uisce Éireann works, with the “prolonged planned road closeure on the L1014, Leixlip.”
The second question from Cllr Killeen asks what plans are in place to expand the School Street Initiative in the municipal district.
