New details have officially been revealed by a garda in relation to a criminal damage by fire incident which occurred in County Kildare last week.

Last week, it was reported that the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, September 4 last.

It was also reported that the crime took place at a residence in Newbridge

And this morning (September 10), Detective Garda Shona Nolan told KFM that the incident specifically occurred in The Crescent, which is located in the Liffey Hall region.

Det Gda Nolan, who appeared as a guest on a KFM programme earlier today, explained that the owner heard a window smash and discovered that their car was on fire.

According to Det Gda Nolan, it is believed that the fire was started deliberately by someone else.

She concluded by urging anyone with information and / or footage of the event to contact Newbridge Garda Station on 045 440 180.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about this incident, a garda spokesperson replied: "Gardaí received a report of an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred at a residence in Newbridge, County Kildare on Thursday, September 4 last at approximately 3.30am.

"No injuries have been reported at this time."

The spokesperson added that investigations are ongoing.
