The planning permission application was submitted by Bronto Storage Limited

The construction of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) has been proposed for a site near the Kildare-Meath border.

A planning permission application which was submitted to Kildare County Council for consideration shows that Bronto Storage Limited wants to construct the BESS at Dysart near Enfield.

Specifically, the company is seeking 10 years worth of planning permission for the provision of the BESS, as well as the "compound on a site of circa 1.015 hectares to support the adjacent permitted solar farm (KCC Reg. Ref.: 161265)".

The application notes that this BESS compound would accommodate self-contained Lithium Ion Phosphate batteries within 18 BESS units, four twin skid units and a single skid unit.

In addition, a control room (measuring in at circa 27.6 square metres) has been proposed to the east of the compound.

Lastly, Bronto Storage Ltd is seeking permission from KCC for the proposed development to include: all associated development and boundary treatments; security fencing; site access works; ducting and cabling; and all associated ancillary works.

The date received on the application is listed as September 29 last, while the submission-by and due dates are listed as November 2, 2025 and November 23, 2025 respectively.

According to the business information website SoloCheck.ie, Bronto Storage Ltd was established back in February of this year.

It specialises in the "construction of utility projects for electricity and telecommunications".

Bronto Storage Ltd has a registered address listed as the First Floor Offices at 86 - 88 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2, County Dublin (D02 A668).
