Sallins Reserve team gave their Intermediate side a massive boost a week before their county final as they picked up the Osprey Hotel and Spa Kildare Reserve B title with a one point win over a Maynooth side who looked to have done enough when they hit the front as the game went into injury time.

The name Dalton is synonymous with goals in Sallins of late and when the younger one Conor tried his luck from range his shot flew all the way to the net to help secure the win.

Maynooth goalkeeper Joshua Flood opened the scoring three minutes in with a well-hit free.

Sallins were right back into attack and Cian Kilbride and a Sean McDonnell effort had them in front for the first time after six minutes.

The opening exchanges were very loose and eight minutes in midfielder Conor Walsh fired over off the left to level matters.
On a perfect evening for football Sallins were growing into the game and they complimented their dominance with points from Sam Ryan through a free and a second from Cian Kilbride to move two ahead.

Aaron Mahony stemmed the flow of scores but Sallins were quickly on the front foot again and four in a row helped open a five point buffer. Sean McDonnell, Sean Coyle, Sam Ryan and Cian Kilbride all on target.

David Bonass and Aaron Mahoney, with his second helped reduce the gap but Sam Ryan ended the half with his second as Sallins lead by four 0-9 to 0-5 as Alan Lagrue blew for half time.

The second half was to prove eventful as both sides went in search of the win.

Lorcan McKenna won the throw in and 15 seconds later he edged Sallins five ahead for the second time.
James Hever pointed before Joshua Flood converted a 45 to leave three between the sides.

The action was end to end and when Laois county U20 Sam Ryan found Cian Kilbride he landed his fourth of the evening.
The next eight minutes would see Maynooth right back in contention.

James Hever and influential centre back Luke Murnane would both land two pointers and a fine effort from wing back Michael Chambers, from just inside the arc had Maynooth back in front.

Sallins corner forward Sean McDonnell levelled with a free and as we moved inside the closing ten minutes it was all to play for.
With no two pointers in the opening half Maynooth would hit four after the break. David Bonass landed a third before Joshua Flood converted a second 45 after Ryan Herbert was forced to make a great save from Darren O Loinsigh.
Maynooth were now three up but Sallins would somehow add the next four scores.

Sam Ryan, from a free, and Sean McDonnell reduced the gap and then Conor Dalton found the net with that match winning score.

Sam Ryan punished a three up infringement and suddenly from three down Sallins were three up.

Luke Murnane fired over his second two pointed but the clock was not on Maynooth's side and Sallins held on for the 1-15 to 0-17 win.
