Turnout in Presidential Election below 20% in Kildare at mid-afternoon

Voting turnout in the presidential election across Co Kildare was a low as 20% by mid-afternoon - but a big surge of voters was expected from 6pm onwards. 

The turnout figures at 3.30pm were as follows: 


Celbridge - 20%                     
Athy - 18%
Clane - 20%                           
Kildare - 17%
Leixlip - 23%                                  
Rathangan - 18%
Kilcock - 23%                                
Newbridge - 19%
Maynooth -  22%
Kill - 20%
Naas - 23%
Sallins - 20%
