Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault that occurred in Kildare town in Co Kildare the early hours of Sunday.
A male was found unresponsive on Magee Terrace off Dublin Street at approximately 3:15am.
The male, aged in his 20s, was brought to Naas General Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
The scene is currently preserved for technical examination.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information in relation to this incident.
A Garda statement said: Any road users who were in the area between 2:00am and 4:00am and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kildare Garda Station on 045 527730, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
