Kildare County Council (KCC) gave an update to a councillor in relation to public realm works planned for one South Kildare street.
The information was sought by Labour Party Cllr Mark Leigh at the latest Athy Municipal District meeting, which was held on Monday, October 20 last.
He asked Kildare County Council (KCC) to provide an update on the proposed public realm works on Woodstock Street, Athy, to include footpaths and a pedestrian crossing at Shrewleen Lane.
KCC replied to his query via the report it presented at the meeting: "[The] Strategic Projects and Public Realm (SPPR) Technical Staff do not currently have the capacity to commence a feasibility exercise on this project."
However, KCC assured Cllr Leigh: "When staff resources become available, the SPPR team will engage with the Athy Municipal District office with a view to preparing a proposal for the area."
Cllr Leigh told KCC that he was "happy" with what KCC's public realm had told him about its plans for the area.
He added that he was also pleased with KCC report at the meeting.
