Kildare Gardaí have re-opened a section of the N7 near Naas following a fatal road traffic collision at 3.30pm on Saturday.

The collision between a bus and a van occurred between junction 8 and junction 7 eastbound on the N7 motorway.

A man aged in his 30s was seriously injured and taken to Tallaght University Hospital. He later passed away yesterday evening as a result of the collision. A post mortem will take place in due course.

The male driver (aged in his 30s) of the bus was uninjured and two passengers received non-life threatening injuries.

The N7 motorway between junction 8 and junction 7 eastbound was immediately closed pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road remained closed overnight and diversions were in place.

Gardaí reopened the road at around 4pm.

Kildare Gardai said: "The incident on the N7 has been cleared and the road is now fully open. Thank you for your patience."
