There are no plans to build a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Hartwell Road and the main road in Kill.

Cllr Anne Breen told a Naas Municipal District committee meeting it’s required to deal with the significant increase in vehicular and pedestrian traffic in this area.

She said a signalised (press button) crossing is needed.

 Kildare County Council engineer Dónal Hodgins pointed out an unsignalised crossing is provided there and he added the crossing distance is significantly reduced to provide for pedestrian flows.

“There are no plans to provide a signalised crossing at this location as it would need to be located away from the junction and not in accordance with the desire lines (informal paths created by constant use) of pedestrians - resulting in an unnecessary diversion for them,” he added.
