Fianna Fáil Senator Fiona O’Loughlin has received confirmation that the National Transport Authority (NTA) intends to introduce a new TFI Local Link Route 893 between Kildare and Newbridge, with dedicated service to Suncroft.
Senator O’Loughlin noted that procurement for the service is now at an advanced stage. The new route will deliver improved frequency and a more practical timetable, including early-morning and evening services to support commuter connections to Dublin.
The introduction of Route 893 is anticipated for 2026.

Speaking about the development, Senator O’Loughlin said: “This is a much-needed win for commuters in the area, creating faster and more convenient access to surrounding towns. This service will give people more options, more often, making everyday travel easier.
“Local Link services are essential for connecting communities, and their importance must be recognised whenever we discuss transport infrastructure.”
Senator O’Loughlin noted that this latest announcement builds on the momentum of the Local Link network’s expansion earlier this year with the launch of Route 888, which enhanced connectivity to Rathstewart, Kilberry, Kildangan, Monasterevin, Mountrice Cross, Tullylost Cross, Mullantine, Ard Mhuire, Rathangan, Newtown, and Lullymore.
Senator O’Loughlin concluded: “We are continually working with the NTA and the Department of Transport to expand our transport network to serve communities right across Kildare. I will keep working closely with the NTA to ensure this and other important projects are delivered.”
