The Kildare-Carlow division of An Garda Síochána Kildare has issued safety advice for those planning to celebrate New Year's Eve 2025.

Making the announcement today (December 31) on social media, the division said: "As we say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new, An Garda Síochána Kildare Carlow is reminding everyone to celebrate responsibly and safely."

Specifically, the division listed out three points of advice.

For the first point, it said: "If you are heading out tonight, never drink and drive — plan your journey home in advance: use public transport, book a taxi, or arrange a designated driver."

As for the second point, it said: "Keep an eye on your drink and your friends."

Lastly, the division advised people to trust their instincts — "If something doesn’t feel right, seek help immediately," it added.

The division also assured the general public that its members will be on duty this evening.

It further said: "Let’s start the New Year the right way — without injury, without tragedy, and with respect for one another.

"In an emergency, dial 999 or 112."
