Man had cannabis for his friends and colleagues, Kildare court told

Naas District Court was told that some €800 worth of cannabis found by the gardaí was for the "friends and colleagues" of a man who was prosecuted.

Before the court was Mohsen Faraazi, 21, whose address was given as 62 Rail Park, Maynooth, who was charged with having the drug at an address in Maynooth on February 21, 2024.

The court heard the drug was discovered after a search warrant was executed.

Solicitor David Powderly said the cannabis was for the defendant’s immediate circle of friends and colleagues.

Mr Powderly said the defendant now lives in Ballaghderreen, County Roscommon.

He said the defendant had engaged with the Probation Service and had completed a restorative justice programme.

He also said he was employed.

Judge Desmond Zaidan imposed a fine of €1,200 and he order that the defendant enter into a peace bond.
