Naas Roads Policing Unit recently conducted a multi-agency checkpoint in conjunction with the Road Safety Authority (RSA) on the R445 at Mayfield, Monasterevin, Kildare.
The results of the operation were as follows:
Two drivers were arrested for intoxicated driving offences
Three vehicles were impounded for no insurance, no NCT/tax, and an unaccompanied learner driver
Eight Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPN) were issued for other road traffic offences
The RSA made 4 detections
Proceedings will follow.

A garda spokesperson said of the operation: “These checkpoints aim to improve road safety and reduce serious injuries and fatalities on our roads.
“Please drive responsibly and ensure your vehicle and documentation are in order.”
