A permanent speed camera has been called for Kilcock Road, Maynooth, Co Kildare as per the representations of a local councillor.

Cllr Donna Phelan (FF) is calling on the council to write to An Garda Síochána to request a permanent speed camera to be installed at the location.

Cllr Phelan will table her motion at the next meeting of Clane Maynooth Municipal District, to be held on Friday, March 6 next.

According to Cllr Phelan, the council has “exhausted all measures in their power to address speeding on this road.”

Elsewhere, and another big issue in our towns, Cllr Angela Feeney (LAB) asks that the council installs a disability parking bay on Mill Street, Maynooth.

Separately, Cllr Feeney calls on the council to give consideration to the installation of a park and ride facility to the west of Maynooth.

Staying on transport concerns, and Cllr Paula Mulroe (SD) is seeking provision of a bus stop at Shee Bridge on the R403 “along the 120 bus stop route”.

Cllr Mulroe asks that the provision of the bus stop is added to priority provisions for bus infrastructure 2026, and that the council outlines the results of any investigations into this matter to date.

Cllr Mulroe, in a separate motion asks the council to install raised ramps and pedestrian crossings at the roundabout near Alexandra Park and the Westgrove Hotel on the Clane Inner Relief Road.

Meanwhile, Cllr Paul Ward (FF) calls for necessary repair and resurfacing works to the approach road and car park area at the Bawnogues, Kilcock (near Kilcock Celtic pitch), and raises safety concerns in the area.

Separately, and in the interest of speeding concerns and residents' safety, Cllr Ward asks the council to “urgently” install traffic calming measures on the link road between Royal Meadows Estate and Chambers Park Estate.

Remaining on transport issues, and Cllr Tim Durkan asks that the council provide an update on the provision of a roundabout at Taghadoe Cross, Maynooth, “given the high volume of traffic.”

Cllr Daragh Fizpatrick asks the local authority when much needed repair works will be carried out at Healy's Bridge, Prosperous, and asks the council to confirm when the works on the R415 from Allen to Kilmeague will be finished.

Cllr Donna Phelan asks if the council has plans to carry out a “comprehensive assessment” of all roundabouts in Maynooth.

This, Cllr Phelan argues, would address problems where hedgerows or planting impact driver visibility, and determine what works need to be carried out to address the issue.

A question from Cllr Angela Feeney (LAB) asks for an update on the status of the M4 Priority Bus corridor, while finally, Cllr Paula Mulroe (FF) seeks an outline of projects which the council sought funding for from the Department of Transport in the 2026 national roads allocations.
