A set of 'promising' resurfacing works are due soon for one County Kildare road.

The plans were discussed at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, March 18 last.

The topic was initially raised by Fianna Fáil councillor Suzanne Doyle, who motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) to include the L7070 road, which is located near Maddenstown and Nurney, in its road works programme for overlay.

Her motion was seconded by her party colleague Cllr Brian O'Loughlin.

Responding to Cllr Doyle's motion, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: "This road will be considered for inclusion under the 2026 road resurfacing programme, with an aim for it to be completed this year subject to sufficient funding being available."

Cllr Doyle replied by saying that she accepted the report, and added that the prospect of the works planned for the L7070 seemed "promising".
