Peter Mahon
The chief executive of County Kildare Chamber has stepped down, just over three months after taking up the position and outlining an ambitious vision for the organisation.
Kildare native Peter Mahon confirmed he resigned as CEO on Thursday, March 5, following what he described as a period of "careful consideration".
His departure comes shortly after he had taken up the role and expressed enthusiasm for leading the Chamber and supporting economic growth across the county.
However, in a statement announcing his resignation in recent days, Mr Mahon reflected on his time in the role as a “genuinely rewarding experience,” citing the opportunity to work with a “dynamic and ambitious business community.”
He said the energy, innovation and collaboration across Kildare had left a lasting impression.
Mahon thanked Chamber members, external stakeholders, and fellow Chamber CEOs nationwide for their support, adding that the relationships built during his tenure were “meaningful and impactful.”
Despite stepping down, he indicated he intends to remain active within the business community, expressing a continued interest in supporting growth, collaboration, and future partnerships across Kildare.
The leadership change comes as County Kildare Chamber continues its work representing businesses across the region and promoting the county as a hub for enterprise and investment.
At the time of his appointment in late November 2025, Mr Mahon said it was a “privilege” to return to his native Kildare in a leadership capacity, highlighting the Chamber’s central role in shaping the county’s economic future.

Mr Mahon had thanked Chamber President Ruth Murphy, the executive board, and recruitment lead Denise Brady for their support during the hiring process.
In outlining his priorities, Mr Mahon emphasised enhancing member value, strengthening advocacy, and deepening engagement with key stakeholders, including Kildare County Council, Local Enterprise Office Kildare, and Chambers Ireland. He also pointed to the importance of collaboration with membership, marketing, and events teams in growing and diversifying the Chamber’s network.
