Naas Roads Policing Unit have slammed as “simply not acceptable” two incidents of excessive speeding on Kildare's roads.
Kildare gardaí conducted a speed check on the L2019, Porterstown, Kill recently.
Two drivers were detected travelling at excessive speeds in a 60km/h zone.
One motorist was travelling at 96km/h in a 60km/h zone, while the other motorist was travelling at 88km/h.
Both drivers have now been issued with Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (€160) and three penalty points.

A garda spokesperson said: “Let’s be clear: Speeding is not just a number on a dashboard - it’s a decision that puts lives at risk. Yours, your passengers’, and every other road user around you.
“A moment of impatience can have lifelong consequences.
“60km/h means 60km/h, not 70, not 80, not 'just this once.'
“We will continue to carry out enforcement across Kildare. If you choose to speed, expect to be caught. #NaasRPU.”
