Man arrested after unprovoked stabbing incident in busy Kilkenny shopping centre

Gardaí arrested a man within minutes of a shocking stabbing incident at a busy Kilkenny City shopping centre yesterday afternoon. A man who was out walking his dog was targeted in an unprovoked attack at the Market Cross shopping centre at around 2.30pm yesterday afternoon, and he received injuries to his face, upper body and shoulder during the incident. Gardaí acted quickly to detain the suspected assailant, and arrested a man, believed to be in his 30s, within a number of minutes. He is currently being detained in Kilkenny Garda Station where he is being questioned. The scene outside of the shopping centre was closed off by Gardaí for a short period of time following the incident yesterday.
