The forward-thinking folk at Kildare Medieval Festival are already looking for volunteers for next year's event!
The Festival, which is only in its second year, saw up to 5,000 people flock to the town last weekend.
Crowds enjoyed fire jugglers, puppetry, archery, falconry, medieval games and craft activities. The attractions also included farrier demonstrations, a planetarium, walking tours, street theatre and a traditional food market. A unique performance of Ancient Irish Music took place in St Brigid's Cathedral.
With the success of this year, the Festival's future is very safe and people interested in helping out in 2017 are asked to contact Tom McCutcheon at Kildare Town Heritage Centre.
The Festival Committee thanked everybody who help to make the event possible including the Civil Defence, Kildare Co Council, Kildare Library, the Silken Thomas Players, Redhills Adventure, Kildare Library and a small army of willing volunteers. The hard-working Festival Committee was: Kevin O Kelly, Ann Sweeney. Rory Hopkins, Judith Boyle, Margaret Riordan, David Sexton, Tara Flanagan, Patricia Hyland, Mario Corrigan, Dr Mary O'Connor, Liam Quinlivan, Bernard Gibney and Teresa Donoghue.
The sponsors included Kildare Village, The Heritage Council, the Silken Thomas Bar & Restaurant, The Irish National Stud, Kildare Town Heritage Centre, the Curragh Racecourse, Irish Walled Towns Network, Kildare Farm Foods, Kildare County Council, Kildare Credit Union and Cunninghams Bar.
