Fancy a game of Snake? The Nokia 3310 will be available in Ireland from next week

Many childhood's were spent endlessly trying to stop a snake from crashing into himself at high speed while trying to eat up more points and break that impossible record someone else probably set on your phone. People who will have memories of the game Snake were probably owners of a Nokia 3310, the iconic mobile phone of the early 00's that was a solid as a block of concrete, had a battery life longer than any phone on the market since and was utterly simple to use. As phones become more hi-tech, touchscreens became the norm and buttons were consigned to the past, many people pined for the return of the simple 'Blockia' with its luminous green screen and monphonic ringtones. Well the good news is that it is coming back to the Irish market, and it will be on the shelves of Vodafone, Eir and Carphone Warehouse stores by August 5. It wont be exactly the same, but the new manufacturers, HMD Global, have tried to tailor it to nearly the exact same specifications as the previous iteration. There will be a battery life that allows 22 hours of talktime and a month-long standby, and it will be just as strong according to designers. There will be no WiFi connectivity on the phone, but there will be limited access to the internet via data connection. Most importantly, the game Snake will be on it. It's going to be quite cheap too. The new Nokia 3310 will be just €59 and is aimed at young people who are looking for a second phone for nights out and festivals.
