Water supply cut off to a dozen Kildare villages due to burst water mains

Numerous towns and villages around Kildare have been left without a water supply this morning following a bust main in the Kilmeague area. Areas around Allenwood, Ballyteague, Lullymore, Robertstown, Blackwood, Coill Dubh, Cooleragh, Prosperous, Derrinturn, Killina, Newtown and Donore have all been affected by the problem, which will cause interruptions up to and including loss of supply, the following areas will be affected by this disruption: "It is hoped repairs will be completed this afternoon, however it may take some time for normal supply pressure to resume," said a Kildare County Council statement. Workers are also carrying out repairs to a burst main at Maryville, Kildare Town. Also affected will be Melitta Road and surrounding areas until around 1pm.
