Four restaurants in Kildare have been named in Ireland's top 100 places to dine out. The list was compiled by expert food critics John and Sally McKenna as part of a special supplement in today's Sunday Times, with both reviewers travelling the length and breath of the country in search of Ireland's best establishments to find a good dish. The four Kildare restaurants have earned very good reviews before, and it will be another feather in the cap of the chefs and owners in each business. The Ballymore Eustace Inn, where Georgina O'Sullivan is the head chef, is noted for its attention to detail and the fact that 'even the mash potato in the Ballymore Inn is worth the trip', while a hat tip goes to the restaurant for sourcing their ingredients from their own garden behind the Back Bar. The Canteen in Celbridge has the quality of the serving staff highlighted, along with with the short menu inspired by head chef James Sheridan. Hartes of Kildare Town shows 'painstaking precision in the cooking' according to the review, while the gin and beer selection was also a pleasing factor for the pair. The menu 'reveals impeccable sources' also. Two Cooks in Sallins, an establishment where chefs Josef Zammit and Nicola Curran brew up some 'classic country flavours' that were very favourable with the critics. The signature house fries with parmesan truffles were also well received, and the great value of the steak night was highlighted too.
