Fine Gael Kildare South TD Martin Heydon has welcomed confirmation from the Department of Transport that they have given approval to Kildare County Council to issue Notices to Treat in relation to the development of the Southern Distributor Route. Kildare County Council have also confirmed to Deputy Heydon that all Notices to Treat were issued on 30th July. "This is another significant step towards the new road and a stage we have not reached before. Notices to Treat are issued to landowners along the proposed new route and are the first step in the compulsory purchase order process. Once notices to treat are issued they set in train a series of legal timelines which must be adhered to," said Deputy Heydon "This approval also confirms that the funding to secure the necessary land is in place as the notices can not be issued without that. Following completion of soil and archaeological testing, it is expected that groundworks will commence in the Autumn under the first contract for preparatory works," he concluded.
