Large solar farm being planned for Brownstown area

Planning permission is being sought for the development of a new solar farm in the Brownstown and Carnalaway part of Kilcullen. The planning application has been submitted by Starrus LFG Limited for a solar farm to be installed over restored landfill with an export capacity of approximately 3MW comprising photovoltaic panels on ground mounted frames, connection to existing single-storey ESB Sub- Station / switch room building, installation of three transformers, ducting and underground electrical cabling and all associated ancillary works and services. Kildare County Council are currently considering the application.
