VIDEO: Some slippery customer: Otter runs riot around Mr Price shop!

A shop in Co Mayo got more than it bargained for, when an otter entered the store, running around the aisles. Staff at the Mr Price store in Swinford tried to shepherd the animal to safety, while a wildlife expert was called in. The otter was eventually caught, and is being looked after by the expert. Store manager Cathy Nolan said: "The expert, who runs a wildlife charity has since got back to us to let us know the otter has a chest infection and a temperature and was also close to starvation, she is now nursing him back to health with all her other animals." Kildare  In 2015, Kildare Co Council officials erected otter signs along the Kilcock to Maynooth Road to warn passing motorist that they may encounter an otter moving between the Rye River and the Royal Canal as they forage for food. The signs were put up following requests from the public and under advice from the National Parks and Wildlife Service. There has been a large number of mortalities on this stretch of road in recent years. These protected species, while shy, are often on the move at dusk and dawn and may not be seen by passing cars.  WATCH VIDEO:    https://twitter.com/twitter/statuses/1062355547285082112
