Man shot dead in front garden in broad daylight gun attack in Clondalkin

A man has been shot dead in Dublin this afternoon. The shooting took place in the Foxdene Estate in Ronanstown / Lucan area in the west of the city just after 2pm, RTE is reporting.   The 42-year-old victim died at the scene. The scene has been preserved pending a forensic examination. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses or people with information to contact them.

A Garda statement said:

"Gardaí in Lucan Co Dublin are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the front garden of a house at Foxdene, Dublin 22 at approximately 2pm today, Friday 1st March 2019.

"A number of shots were discharged at the scene. A man believed to be in his 40s was fatally injured.

"The scene of the shooting is currently preserved pending an examination by Garda Crime Scene Examiners.

"The body of the deceased remains at the scene.  Investigations are ongoing."
