Motorists caught speeding in this Kildare town despite freezing conditions

The offending motorists were caught speeding through Prosperous village
Naas Roads Policing Unit (Naas RPU) detected multiple motorists speeding through the Kildare village of Prosperous on January 3 last, despite freezing conditions.
The detections were made as part of a speed checkpoint carried out by Naas RPU.
One driver was recorded travelling at 80 km/h and another at 75 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
All offending drivers received €160 Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPNs) and three penalty points.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána Kildare stated: “Speeding in freezing conditions is reckless. Braking distances increase dramatically, vehicle control is reduced, and the margin for error is almost zero.
“A moment of impatience can have life-changing consequences. Slow down. No journey is worth a life.”
