Naas writing course aimed at aspiring and experienced storytellers

Begins on Wednesday, September 23
A new 10-week writing course aimed at aspiring and experienced storytellers is being launched in Naas this month by local dramatist and screenwriter Mary Duffin.
Story Matters will begin on Wednesday, September 23, at Monread Community Centre, running from 7pm to 9pm each week.
Duffin is an experienced and produced screenwriter who co-wrote the award-winning feature film DannyBoy, which was filmed entirely in Naas.
She has extensive experience across stage and screen, as well as in teaching, training and facilitation.
The new course focuses on what Duffin describes as the hidden mechanics of plot and story structure, with the aim of helping participants build stronger stories regardless of their chosen medium.
The course is open to a wide range of participants, from complete beginners to novelists, screenwriters and playwrights, as well as filmmakers, actors and directors interested in developing their storytelling skills.
Duffin has worked as a screenwriter, playwright, script editor, script doctor and story consultant, with credits and experience including RTÉ Storyland, Screen Ireland/BAI, Big Stories for the Small Screen and the Baptiste Programme.
With places limited to just 12 participants, the course is designed to provide a small-group learning environment.
The 10-week programme costs €220, with a €50 deposit required to secure a place.
