Hie partner claimed she couldn’t find the key

A man is controlling what his family eats.

This was the claim made at a family law hearing which took place at Naas District Court.

The man's partner said he controls what their child, who is aged under 6, has for breakfast.

The woman also claimed that the man locked her in the back garden.

He took the child and locked the youngster in the car and “I couldn’t find the key.”

She alleged that he eventually emerged and got into the car unlocking it.

But when she went to remove the child from the vehicle, he drove away hitting her.

“He controls everything in the household," she said, adding that she had to organise her working hours “around him.”

Judge Catherine Hayden granted an interim protection order and adjourned the matter to January 25. The judge noted that the man can turn up on that date and dispute what the woman said.

The man was not present or represented.
