He had four previous convictions for no insurance, Naas District Court told

A man who crashed into another vehicle while driving appeared before Naas District Court.

Mateusz Kurzysz, whose address was given as 4 Oak Park Green, Naas, but stated to be living in Spain, was prosecuted for driving without insurance.

Sgt Mary Meade said the incident occurred when the man crashed into a vehicle in front of him. The sergeant said he was disqualified at the time because he had had no insurance.

The court heard that the defendant had 16 previous convictions, including four for no insurance and he was before the court for driving without insurance at Market Square, Kildare town, on September 22, 2021.

The court heard that the insurance cases were heard on four dates in 2021 and he had been disqualified from driving for two years.

Defending solicitor David Powderly conceded the defendant’s record was “poor” and there was no defending driving without insurance or while banned.

Mr Powderly also said his client had been in court on ten occasions and had travelled from Madrid, Spain, to have the cas heard.

“He’s turned his life around, he’s made a life for himself in Spain," Mr Powderly added.

Judge Valerie Corcoran said the defendant was driving while disqualified and a Spanish court would not look lightly on this.

She imposed a four month sentence which she suspended for a year and disqualified the defendant from driving for four years.
