Kildare has a new county councillor

Lisa Murphy has become a member of Kildare County Council.

Cllr Murphy, from Coill Dubh, near Robertstown and Allenwood in west Kildare was put forward by the Fine Gael party.

Cllr Murphy was co-opted to replace Cllr Brendan Wyse.

Cllr Wyse from Allenwood was re-elected to the council at the local elections in June 2024.

But he announced he was standing down a month ago.

Another Fine Gael councillor, Paul Brooks from Leixlip, also announced he was standing aside and is set to be replaced by the FG party organisation.
