Another accused also appeared in court

A man charged in connection with an alleged petrol bomb incident was refused bail at Naas District Court.

Dylan Connolly, 23, whose address was given as 11 Anne Street, Prosperous, faces an allegation of possessing a bottle of petrol on May 9, 2026, at Timahoe East, Donadea.

He also faces an arson allegation at the same location on the same date.

A co-accused, Dean Dempsey, 22, whose address was given as 79 Anne Street, Prosperous, also appeared in court facing an allegation of arson and possessing a wooden baton on the same occasion.

Mr Dempsey’s case was adjourned and there was no objection to bail being granted in his case, at a previous hearing.

The gardaí objected to bail for Mr Connolly for reasons including a further alleged crime being committed.

This was contested by solicitor Tim Kennelly on behalf of Mr Connolly. Mr Kennelly pointed out that none of those allegedly affected by the alleged incident had turned up in court to express any fears in support of the garda opposition to bail terms.

However, the bail application was refused by Judge Desmond Zaidan.
