Man fears son will return home from mental health unit, Kildare court told

‘He’s bring wires from a dump to build an engine’
A man told Naas District Court he is fearful that his son will return home from a mental health unit.
“He’s climbing over windows and walls, I’m afraid he will be released and he will come back,” the man told Judge Desmond Zaidan at a family law hearing.
He furthermore told the court his son has mental health issues and the situation is exacerbated because he won’t take medication.
The man also claimed he is “afraid he’ll be released.”
Asked about whether his son has been assessed by the judge, the man said that there are different medical opinions relating to the case.
He also said he is abusive to his mother, he is threatening violence and the threats are constant.
He also said the son is bringing wires from a dump because he wants to build an engine.
He further said that another party has an order against him “because he is sending vile messages.”
Judge Zaidan expressed his sympathy and said he was also sorry for the son “because he is unwell and doesn’t know what he is doing.”
The judge added: “I hope you get proper help for him; don’t give up.”
The son was not present or represented.
