Aaron Taylor-Johnson is said to be the next James Bond (Jonathan Brady/PA)
The name is Taylor-Johnson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has reportedly been offered the prestigious role of James Bond in the iconic spy franchise.
Taylor-Johnson is known for his versatile performances in films such as Kick-Ass, Bullet Train and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The decision to offer Taylor-Johnson the role comes after much speculation about who would succeed Daniel Craig, who concluded his tenure as Bond with the highly acclaimed film, No Time to Die.
While several names had been tossed into the ring as potential candidates, including Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, and Henry Cavill, it appears that the producers have opted for a fresh and unexpected choice in Taylor-Johnson.
However, the prospect of him stepping into the shoes of the suave and sophisticated James Bond has ignited both excitement and skepticism among fans of the franchise on social media.
Some quotes from fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) star included: "Had him just behind Cavill but it's a great pick" and "Exciting news if Aaron Taylor-Johnson indeed takes on the iconic role of James Bond! His talent and charisma could bring a fresh perspective to the character, and fans will surely be eager to see how he interprets the role."
Another added: "Its always thrilling to see fresh interpretations of such a beloved character and I'm sure Aaron would bring his own unique flair and style to the role."
Meanhwhile, some social media users disagreed with the choice of the 33-year-old actor completely, saying: "[The franchise] won’t be the same again", "We didn’t want him as James Bond. We wanted Henry Cavill," and "What happened to Idris Elba?"
If Taylor-Johnson accepts the role, he will join the esteemed ranks of actors who have portrayed James Bond over the decades, including Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig.
