As part of ongoing enforcement to keep local communities safe, the Naas Roads Policing Unit recently seized four illegal high-powered e-scooters on the Kilcullen Road.

According to authorities, all riders of these e-scooters were underage, which led to parents being contacted. Following this, the minors were then collected.

The seized e-scooters were found to be non-compliant with current Irish legislation because they are so high-powered, meaning they are capable of serious speed which could lead to injury.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána in Kildare issued a warning to parents following this incident.

They said, "Do NOT buy these for your children. If your child has one — take it away. This is not a toy. This is a powerful piece of equipment that puts young lives, pedestrians and road users at real risk. Enforcement will continue. Safety comes first."
