Safe pedestrian crossing sought for these Kildare housing estates

The areas were highlighted by a local representative at a recent Kildare County Council meeting
The installation of a safe pedestrian crossing has been sought for two County Kildare housing estates.
The request was heard at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, July 15 last.
During the early stages of this meeting, Fine Gael Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) to review a location for a pedestrian crossing near the Tracey Meadows / Rathcurragh (Green Road) estates in Newbridge’.
According to Cllr O’Dwyer, she wanted this feature installed in order to ‘facilitate safe crossing for many pedestrians’.

Her motion was seconded by her party colleague, Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer, who appeared at the meeting by virtual means.
Speaking further on the matter, Cllr O’Dwyer told KCC that she believed that the matter had been raised on previous occasions.
In response to Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer’s motion, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: “The Municipal District Office agrees to carry out a technical assessment at this location.”
However, KCC also stressed: “All works are subject to budget availability.”
SUGGESTION
Following this, Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer suggested to KCC that it could look into whether or not a technical assessment for this region had occurred in the past.
“It could be worth looking into,” she added.
A representative of KCC who was also present at the meeting then spoke, and assured Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer that an interim assessment would take place soon in order to establish whether or not a pedestrian crossing can be installed at the suggested location, as the upgrade of the junction at the Liffey Hall area (going onto the Green Road) will take time to finish.
