Progress made on masterplan for lands in Celbridge, Co Kildare

Preparation work has begun on a masterplan for Donaghcumper lands in Celbridge, Co Kildare
Kildare County Council has commenced preparation work on the masterplanning of the Donaghcumper lands in Celbridge, Co Kildare, the council has revealed.
Confirmation came following a question raised by Cllr Declan Ryan (FG) at a meeting of Celbridge Leixlip Municipal District, held on Friday, May 15 2026.
Cllr Ryan's question asked: “Can the council provide an update on the current status of Donaghcumper House and lands, including the timeline for the masterplan and public consultation, and what funding or partnerships are in place for the restoration and public access?”
A report issued by the council confirmed it has commenced preparation work on the masterplanning of the Donaghcumper lands for resources within the Forward Planning Team in the Planning Department.
The council explained that as there is a “significant demand on resources” within that team, it will revert back with a timeline “as work progresses.”
The report also outlined that due to the relationship between Donaghcumper House and lands and Castletown House and lands, the council will also engage with the Office of Public Works (OPW), who are also procuring a consultant for the masterplanning of the Castletown Estate. (following their recent acquisition of the lands to the north of Castletown House).
