Darragh Kirwan
A man who has more miles on the clock this year, and indeed over the past four years is county man Brian Byrne.
The dual-star keeps going week-in, week-out alternating between football and hurling and on Sunday needless to say he was over the moor.
“We knew this was going to be a really, really tough battle; weather played a big part in it today but I think we managed it very well.
“Having said that Celbridge kept at it, got the goal and made a real contest of it and in the end Darragh (Kirwan) got that winning score, just over the moon to get there.
“Ten years ago when I started playing football I dreamt of this without knowing that if would ever come but days like this just don't come around too often.”
Talking of Darragh Kirwan the star forward said he was “really delighted, we had to dig that win out against a very good Celbridge team.”
The man-of-the-match admitted that conditions were extremely difficult and tough but admitted the game could have gone either way right up to the final whistle.
“A slip or a mistake could have turned it differently for us but we were just lucky we came out on top.”
Asked about his winning point which came from a very tight angle, the Naas man said “it is very fine margins that separates these games, it didn't matter who got the winner but just delighted to get over the line” adding “we will celebrate, there are a lot of players in there this is their first time so we will celebrate, regroup and go again for the Leinster Club Championship.”
