Tributes have been pouring in all day for legendary former Irish golfer Christy O'Connor Jnr, who has died at the age of 67. O'Connor is understood to have been on holidays in Tenerife with his wife Ann when he suddenly passed away. O'Connor was one of Ireland's best golfers during the 70's and 80's, winning four events on the European Tour, while he also represented Europe in two Ryder Cups in 1975 and 1989. The former Ryder Cup winner is one of the most recognizable men in Irish golf, with the Galway native's most memorable moment coming when he produced a stunning approach shot in the 1989 Ryder Cup as he beat Fred Couples, helping Europe to retain the trophy. It was announced at the beginning of November 2015 that O'Connor was going to upgrade the Moyvalley Golf Course which is located between Broadford and Kilcock. He was also elected as an honorary member of the Athy Golf Club recently. Well known sports people have taken to Twitter today to pay their respects to the deceased. https://twitter.com/BarryJGeraghty/status/684694797928542209 https://twitter.com/AthyGolfClub/status/684684460865024000 https://twitter.com/ShaneLowryGolf/status/684709815843700736 https://twitter.com/mcginleygolf/status/684711620740792321 https://twitter.com/EndaKennyTD/status/684702754917449728
