Kildare County Council have stated that works to alleviate the flooding issues in Prosperous will be completed by November of this year.

The council were responding to a question raised by Cllr Brendan Weld at the latest meeting of the Maynooth Municipal District, who was asking for an update on the development of a new park for the village.

A response from the council outlined that work on the new park is due to begin early next year, while a design for the area will also be drawn up shortly.

"It is proposed to carry out drainage works within Prosperous village to alleviate flooding issues experienced within the area, including that of the approved park lands," read a council response.

"These works will be complete by November 2018. Work on the development of the park will then commence in early 2019. In the interim, a detailed design of the park will be drawn up. Funding for the provision of the park remains in place."
