Public consultation on Market Square area of this Kildare town due soon

The announcement was heard at a recent Kildare County Council meeting
A public consultation on the Market Square area of one County Kildare town will take place soon, Kildare County Council (KCC) has said.
The information was provided to a local councillor in response to a question that they submitted at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, July 15 last.
Near the conclusion of this meeting, Independent Cllr Tom McDonnell submitted the following query: “Can KCC provide details of what is planned for the Market Square area of Newbridge in the upcoming Newbridge Town Plan?”

Replying to his query, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: “The Newbridge Town Renewal Plan is at draft stage only, and therefore it is premature to pre-empt the final project proposals which will emerge from the remaining stages.
“A recent presentation to our Senior Management Team and elected representatives of the Kildare Newbridge Municipal District accepted the draft proposals in their current format.”
KCC added that these plans are due to be presented to the public by way of an in-person public consultation event, which has been scheduled for Friday, September 4, 2026 in Newbridge Town Hall.
According to KCC, the event will begin at 3pm and conclude at 7pm.
Following this, Cllr McDonnell asked a representative of KCC who was also in attendance at the meeting: “Can there be any engagement aside from the public consultation event?”
This prompted the rep to reply: “The public consultation will allow for feedback from anyone, including any comments from local councillors.”
They also re-emphasised that the plan is still in draft form, and pointed out that the public consultation will help inform the final phase of the plan.
Cllr McDonnell in turn thanked the rep for their answer.
