Two teenagers have been described as a “pair of eejits” after stealing a hearse in the early hours of the morning over the weekend.
The vehicle was reportedly taken from Tenanty’s Funeral Home in Ardee, Co. Louth on Sunday and was stopped by Gardaí in Dunleer around 2:45am due to “dangerous driving.”
The two teenagers, who were described as a “pair of eejits” by Gardaí, were arrested at the scene.
“Who in their right mind would steal a hearse and then drive it around the country thinking they wouldn’t be noticed and that they would get away with it?,” they told the Irish Independent.
It’s understood that there was no body in the hearse while it was stolen.
Both teenagers were released without charge after being arrested, with a referral to the Garda National Youth Diversion Bureau pending for one of the boys.
