It was alleged the child is afraid of him and he refused to leave

A woman told a court sitting that her daughter is afraid of her father who shouts and swears in front of the child.

The woman sought court protection against her partner at Naas District Court and alleged he is drinking excessively.

She said he has refused to leave the home.

The court heard that the couple have separated and it was claimed that the child is afraid of him.

“She is so scared of him,” she claimed.

Judge Michael Connellan granted her an interim protection order and said this means he cannot use violence of the threat or violence to put her in fear and this applies to the child.

He advised the woman to keep an image of order on her phone so it can be shown to the gardaí in the event of a future incident.

He added that the gardaí could then arrest the man, who was not present or represented..

Adjourning the case to January 25, the judge said he would certify for a Russian translator to attend on the next occasion.
