Man tells judge from prison he wants to be brought to the next court hearing

A prisoner told the presiding judge he wants his day in court.

The man, who is facing an allegation of an offence, appeared by videolink at a sitting of Naas District Court.

It was a routine hearing to check on the progress of the case.

Judge Desmond Zaidan told the man his consent was required for legal reasons if the case was to be adjourned for a certain timespan - to which he agreed.

The judge then asked him if he wanted to appear by video link from where he is being detained - or he wished to attend in person.

“Bring me down; it’ll be a day out (for me)," the man replied.

Judge Zaidan adjourned the case and the man will appear in person on the next date.
