Gardaí based in County Kildare have issued an appeal for a burglar who fled the scene of a home that they targeted after being startled by one of its occupants.

The frightening experience was detailed by Garda Sarah O’Sullivan during a recent guest appearance on KFM.

She told host Hannah Kelly that the crime took place at a residence located in the Páirc Mhuire region of Newbridge on Thursday, August 27 last.

According to Gda O’Sullivan, between 4.45am and 5.05am, one of the occupants of the home woke up to discover a male present inside their property.

Upon being spotted, the male fled the home.

Gda O’Sullivan also provided a description of the perpetrator — he is described as being around 5 foot 3 inches in height, with a thin build and an Irish accent.

She concluded by urging anyone with information relating to this incident to contact Newbridge Garda Station on 045 440 180.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about this crime, a garda spokesperson replied: “Gardaí attended the scene of a burglary at a residential premises in Newbridge, County Kildare in the early hours of Thursday, August 27 last.”
